Abstract
2005: over three million foreigners present on the Italian territory at the beginning of the year, about five-hundred-thousand, that is, ten times as many in comparison with thirteen years ago, the minors registered by the Registry records, an increase by eighty-thousand students attending Italian schools in the past year. These are only some of the data providing an overall picture of an ever-growing and structured presence within our country. This eleventh annual Report on Migrations edited by Ismu presents an exhaustive and detailed cross-section of migration reality in Italy. The 2005 Report represents a useful reference tool for all those who, for different reasons, increasingly deal with immigration issues.
