OUR OPEN ACCESS MANIFESTO

Polimetrica Publisher works from a simple premise: that for a better future of the people it's possible to disseminate the knowledge by publishing innovative books freely accessible to anyone in the world who might be interested.

Informed by that premise, we're trying to build a new model of scientific publishing that embraces economic self-subsistence, openness, and fairness; the model is based on the following elements:

1) each scientific book is published in two editions: a printed edition, available in the market, and an electronic edition, freely available through the web; both editions are identified by a different ISBN code.
2) the electronic edition is covered by copyright, which regulates how anyone should make use of the work. All rights are reserved by the copyright holder. The copyright holder hereby gives the permission to reproduce and distribute the digital edition of the work, in whole or in part, under the conditions of the following licence:
Polimetrica License B.
Polimetrica License B gives anyone the possibility to distribute the contents of the work, provided that the Authors of the work, the Institute and the Publisher are always recognized and mentioned. It does not allow use of the contents of the work for commercial purposes or for profit. The Publisher has the exclusive right to publish and sell the contents of the work in paper and electronic format and by any other means of publication. Additional rights on the contents of the work are the Author's property.
3) each scientific book is edited in collaboration with universities or with authoritative professors or specialists.
4) the printed edition is distributed on the international market.
5) the electronic edition is free access through the Polimetrica web site.

Anyone interested in our activities is encouraged to buy the printed edition of our open access publications.

Please feel free to email us (editorial_office at polimetrica dot com) to make suggestions, comments, publications proposals.

We're open to any idea that will help us to achieve our goals of ensuring a new way to communicate the knowledge by the books and by the open access actions.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Sharing ExperienceS on Agile Methodologies in Open Source Software development (SESAMOSS) (Gabriele Gianini, Alberto Sillitti eds.)

Sharing ExperienceS on Agile Methodologies in Open Source Software development (SESAMOSS) (Gabriele Gianini, Alberto Sillitti eds.)

Agile Methodologies (AMs) and Open Source Software present many commonalities such as less formal organization of the development and focus on the human being. Such approach results in (a) focusing on the code that provides value to the final user and (b) eliminating activities that are not directly connected to the final product. These are the main considerations that inspired this workshop and the related call for papers. The workshop included two main activities: the presentation of 5 papers and a final discussion inspired by the papers. The presented papers belong to three categories: distributed development, measurements, experiences in agile and OS development and tools. The distributed development is one of the key strength of the OS development...

Advances in vibration control and diagnostics (Nicolò Bachschmid, Paolo Pennacchi eds.)

Advances in vibration control and diagnostics (Nicolò Bachschmid, Paolo Pennacchi eds.)

This volume presents some up to date concepts and results in the field of vibration control and diagnostics of mechanical systems, obtained in research activities performed in the Departments and laboratories of the universities taking part in the VICONDIA network. The VICONDIA project developed in the frame of the ALFA II Program for the cooperation between European and Latin American universities, funded by the European Commission, has promoted tight cooperation in the research activities in the field of dynamical behaviour of rotating machinery including noise emission, vibration control of mechanical structures, and related diagnostics. A selection of the main results in form of papers, originated by these research activities, is reported in the volume, which therefore contributes to describe the state of art of the activities in the above defined field.
