OUR OPEN ACCESS MANIFESTO

Polimetrica Publisher works from a simple premise: that for a better future of the people it's possible to disseminate the knowledge by publishing innovative books freely accessible to anyone in the world who might be interested.

Informed by that premise, we're trying to build a new model of scientific publishing that embraces economic self-subsistence, openness, and fairness; the model is based on the following elements:

1) each scientific book is published in two editions: a printed edition, available in the market, and an electronic edition, freely available through the web; both editions are identified by a different ISBN code.
2) the electronic edition is covered by copyright, which regulates how anyone should make use of the work. All rights are reserved by the copyright holder. The copyright holder hereby gives the permission to reproduce and distribute the digital edition of the work, in whole or in part, under the conditions of the following licence:
Polimetrica License B.
Polimetrica License B gives anyone the possibility to distribute the contents of the work, provided that the Authors of the work, the Institute and the Publisher are always recognized and mentioned. It does not allow use of the contents of the work for commercial purposes or for profit. The Publisher has the exclusive right to publish and sell the contents of the work in paper and electronic format and by any other means of publication. Additional rights on the contents of the work are the Author's property.
3) each scientific book is edited in collaboration with universities or with authoritative professors or specialists.
4) the printed edition is distributed on the international market.
5) the electronic edition is free access through the Polimetrica web site.

Anyone interested in our activities is encouraged to buy the printed edition of our open access publications.

Please feel free to email us (editorial_office at polimetrica dot com) to make suggestions, comments, publications proposals.

We're open to any idea that will help us to achieve our goals of ensuring a new way to communicate the knowledge by the books and by the open access actions.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

The De-Mathematisation of Logic (Barry Hartley Slater)

The De-Mathematisation of Logic (Barry Hartley Slater)

This book collects together several articles by the author, to which a certain recent RATIO paper of his relates, with that paper as an introduction to the whole. It displays a major failure in the disposition of the logicians who have followed on from Frege, principally through their attachment to mathematics, and their subsequent neglect of natural language, and its basic grammar. Thus these logicians as a whole have confused, in substantial ways, categories like use with mention, identity with equivalence, predicates with functions, predicates with their nominalisations, sentences with nominals, sentences with propositions, propositions with functions, propositions with sets, properties with states of affairs, direct speech with indirect speech, reference with description, objects with facts, pronouns with nouns, mereological sums with (mathematical) sets...

Thou sittest at another boke.... English Studies in Honour of Domenico Pezzini (Giovanni Iamartino, Maria Luisa Maggioni, Roberta Facchinetti eds)

Thou sittest at another boke.... English Studies in Honour of Domenico Pezzini (Giovanni Iamartino, Maria Luisa Maggioni, Roberta Facchinetti eds)

This volume is a tribute to Domenico Pezzini and to his long and outstanding career as a Professor of English at the Catholic University of Milan, then at the University of Sassari and finally at the University of Verona. Professor Pezzini’s research has focused on such diverse authors as Aelred of Rievaulx, Julian of Norwich, R.S. Thomas and Elizabeth Jennings, and his favourite areas of study include spiritual friendship in mediaeval Latin and vernacular literatures, the relationship between religion and poetry, and mystic writings in Italy and Europe...
